What is Our Camrose, Shaping the Future?
Our Camrose, Shaping the Future is a Municipal Development Plan (MDP). An MDP is a long-range, statutory document that describes the desired future land use for a community and outlines a high-level plan on how the community is expected to change over time.
What is the process for creating Our Camrose, Shaping the Future?
Our Camrose, Shaping the Future will include a process of in-depth research and engagement. This process includes three major steps:
1. Establishing the future vision for Camrose – What kind of future do we want for our city? What should Camrose look and feel like over the next 20 to 30 years?
2. Creating the plan on how to get there – How will we achieve our vision? How should we approach land use, the economy, transportation, environment, and social aspects of our City to achieve the vision?
3. Creating an implementation plan – What do we need to do? What is required to support the decisions we must make to achieve the community vision?

Deb deb asked 10 months agoThis is an item that has been discussed with City Council. During the 2023 budget process, Council asked Administration to prepare a business case to look at various options related to the Community Bus. This was one of many business cases that were presented to Council through the budget process. Ultimately, City Council decided to not expand the Community Bus service to include a route that would include the north side of the City. Administration continues to work with the Community Transit Advisory Committee, which is a Council-approved sub-committee of Council that looks at transit-related issues, including the Community Bus and the Transit Tokens. Administration recently provided a report to City Council at the February 26 Committee of the Whole Council meeting (CB6ACB3F96074B25B543C3128F34FB4F-Request for Direction - Community Bus Route Update.pdf (civicweb.net)). At that time, Council approved Administration’s recommendation to make some changes to the existing Community Bus route. However, those changes do not include any service to the north side of the City. During the February 26 Council meeting, various Council members inquired about expanding the service to other parts of the City. However, as this would likely have a financial impact on the City, Council ultimately decided to defer this discussion to the 2025 budget process, which will be starting later this year.

Mike Enright asked almost 2 years agoMaintenance on the City’s bridges is completed through a combination of the City’s Public Works department and through external contractors (coordinated by the Engineering department). Please contact the Engineering Services department if there are specific bridges that are of concern.

MISC asked almost 2 years agoThank you for your question. The Municipal Development Plan is a high-level plan on how the community of Camrose is expected to change over time. Transportation systems will be reviewed, in general. The bollards between Grand Park Drive and 66th Street were made through a decision by previous Council.

Share Will the non-thoroughfare between Grand Park Drive and 66 Street be removed as it is a nuisance when visiting family and friends in the area and one has to go through a maze, that should of not ever been allowed as no other part of the city has it. I use to live in the area prior to that being done. All citizens should have access to our city without having to go through a maze. on Facebook Share Will the non-thoroughfare between Grand Park Drive and 66 Street be removed as it is a nuisance when visiting family and friends in the area and one has to go through a maze, that should of not ever been allowed as no other part of the city has it.
