Seasonal Outdoor Patios

To ensure that the proposed Seasonal Outdoor Patio Policy incorporates best practices and is comparable to programs in other comparable municipalities, Administration reviewed the proposed policy with ISL Engineering and Land Services (ISL), the Municipal Planning Advisory Committee, and the Land Use Bylaw Steering Committee.

The proposed Seasonal Outdoor Patio Policy considers the following:

  • The length of the operational season;
  • The locations where the policy should apply;
  • Street furniture placement and storage;
  • Traffic, parking, site lines, and conflicts on the roadway;
  • Drainage, street cleaning, and deliveries;
  • How to address potential conflicts with other special events (i.e. Jaywalkers, BVJ Parade, Cruisers Show & Shine, Farmers Market);
  • Setbacks from sidewalks and adjacent parking stalls;
  • Potential requirement for other permits for seasonal installations;
  • The License of Occupation to mitigate liability issues;
  • Monitoring and enforcement; and
  • Generally, appropriate use of materials that reinforce the design guidelines of downtown Camrose.
